Birthdays!

Saturday, July 28, 2012

Today was all about twos!  We had two birthday cakes for two, two year olds!  The first cake was for Callie.  She loves Yo Gabba Gabba, so we made her a Brobee cake.  I have never seen the show, but research for this cake was entertaining to say the least... and now I know to eat my fruits and vegetables... Who knew that was important?!

The second cake was a dinosaur cake for Korbin.

Happy Birthday Callie and Korbin!!!

Skier Cake

Friday, July 20, 2012

This cake was a lot of fun!  It was a 3 tiered carrot cake for the couple's rehearsal dinner.  They asked me to do a ski themed cake, because that is something they really enjoy doing together.  I had to channel some winter-y thoughts to dream up this cake, since its been 100 degrees out...

To go with the ski theme, I made a ski slope sign for the top of the cake.  Instead of black diamonds, I put two hearts pointing toward the slope.

Congratulations Phil and Erin!

Happy Birthday!

Cappuccino Cake

Sunday, July 8, 2012

This is a 4 tier mocha cake with espresso buttercream filling and dark chocolate buttercream icing.  It was then carved into the shape of a coffee mug, covered in fondant and painted to give it a more rustic look.  Fondant napkins were wrapped around the base of the cake.

Happy Birthday Sally!

30th Birthday Cake

Saturday, July 7, 2012

This was a chocolate cake filled and frosted with vanilla bean buttercream icing.  It was for a surprise 30th birthday, so we wanted to make the cake feel like a surprise party.  We are so happy to have been part of this celebration!  Happy Birthday Mel!
